New Drivers
New drivers usually need regular practice alongside professional lessons. In Victoria, learner drivers need 120 hours of supervised driving, including 20 hours at night, before completing the log book requirements. The number of lessons you need depends on your experience, progress and the areas you need to practise.
Drivers With Some Experience
If you have already practised with family or friends, professional lessons can help improve your road skills and prepare you for the driving test. Your instructor can focus on areas such as road positioning, parking, intersections, roundabouts and other skills that need more practice.
Overseas Licence Holders
The steps for converting an overseas licence depend on the country where it was issued and your driving history. Some drivers can convert their licence without a practical test, while others need to complete a Hazard Perception Test or Drive Test. Lessons can help you understand Victorian road rules and practise the skills required for your test.
