Trusted & Experienced Driving Instructor Newborough
Newborough has distinct areas with different street layouts, so our lessons cover more than the roads learners already know. We work across local streets to build familiarity with different intersections, traffic patterns and give-way situations.
Our teaching is tailored to local Newborough road conditions, including slower traffic, pedestrians around local shops and busy points where careful observation matters. Lessons focus on correct positioning, hazard awareness and making safe decisions in the situations learners are most likely to encounter locally.

I highly recommend these driving lessons! My driving instructor was patient, supportive and made me feel so much more confident behind the wheel. The lessons were really helpful and explained everything clearly, making learning to drive feel much less stressful. If you’re looking for a great driving instructor or driving school around Traralgon and the Latrobe Valley, I definitely recommend giving them a go! 😊Posted on Google![]()

Sayed was so helpful in making me feel comfortable and confident in my drive. He helped me in preparing by showing me little tips that made me so much more prepared. He is also the sweetest person ever and is genuinely so easy to connect with, him being talkative made me feel so comfortable. Would recommend him to anyone 🙂Posted on Google![]()

I had a great experience with my driving lessons at Stop and Go driving school. The pricing is very reasonable, especially given the high quality of service provided. My instructor was genuinely friendly, patient, and made me feel comfortable behind the wheel right from day one. He took the time to explain everything clearly without any pressure. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an encouraging and skilled driving instructor.Posted on Google![]()

What You'll Learn
Automatic Driving Lessons
Skipping the gears lets us focus right away on what actually determines your pass: observation, judgement, and vehicle control.
Refresher Driving Lessons
If you've held a licence for years but haven't driven lately, we'll quickly shake off the rust without treating you like a total beginner.
Overseas Licence Conversion Lessons
Different countries mean different road habits, so we zero in on Victorian give-way rules, local signage, and VicRoads requirements.
Driving Test Preparation
We structure your lessons around what Morwell examiners actually look for, rather than running through a generic, one-size-fits-all checklist.
Nervous Driver Lessons
There’s no pressure to rush through a lesson. You get the time and practice needed to feel comfortable behind the wheel.
Teenagers' Driving Lesson
These sessions are built to turn ordinary logbook hours into genuine driving capability, rather than just filling out a signed page.
Who We're Teaching in Newborough
- Teenagers starting from nothing, who need every control explained before the car even moves
- Retirees and older residents wanting to keep driving confidently as Newborough's roads and traffic have changed around them
- Adults getting a licence later in life, often for work rather than choice
- Learners who tried lessons elsewhere and found the pace too fast or the instructor too impatient
- Migrants converting an overseas licence and needing local road rules explained properly
Struggling to Find Time to Practise Between Lessons?
Lessons are built to make the most of the hours you do get, rather than assuming you’ve got unlimited practice at home.
Local Roads We Train On Around Newborough
Knowing the area properly gives learners a real edge on test day, and it’s something we build into lessons from early on rather than leaving until the last minute. Around Newborough, that includes:
- Old Sale Road, the direct link to Moe, good for building comfort with steady 60-70km/h traffic before test speeds feel intimidating.
- The residential grid split across Old, East and North Newborough, deliberately mixed into lessons so no part of town stays unfamiliar.
- Local school zones, where genuinely slowing down, not just easing off, becomes a habit rather than a rule you're guessing at.
- Give-way intersections shared with Moe, the exact style of intersection that catches Newborough learners out most on test day.
- Quiet courts throughout the newer estates, used early on for three-point turns and reverse parking without traffic watching.

Your Drive Test near Newborough
There’s no VicRoads centre in Newborough itself. The nearest is Morwell, about 19km away and the only testing centre anywhere in the Latrobe Valley, which means Moe, Trafalgar and Churchill learners sit there too. Since that’s where your test happens, that’s where a chunk of your lessons happen as well, not just the roads five minutes from home.
The Morwell Customer Service Centre is at 87 Princes Drive, Morwell VIC 3840, open 8:30am to 4:30pm on weekdays. You can check current test fees and book through myVicRoads, or call 13 11 71. Try to arrive at least 15 minutes early, since testing officers run to a tight schedule.
- Pass the Hazard Perception Test. Available online via myVicRoads. Leave a few days spare in case you need a second go.
- 120 logged hours if you're under 21 — 20 of them at night. Missing supervisor details are the top reason applications get rejected.
- 12 months on your Ls if you're under 21. Shorter if you're older, check VicRoads for current rules.
- Be 18 to sit the drive test. HPT can be done from 17 years 11 months.
- Bring your permit card and logbook. There's a quick eyesight check before you drive.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most learners see real progress in 5 to 10 lessons, but it depends on your starting point. You’ll get an honest read after lesson one, not a number pulled to sell you a package.
Often, yes. Newborough has a fair number of learners getting back on the road after years away, or starting later in life. Refresher driving lessons for that group focus more on rebuilding judgement around modern traffic than on raw basics.
You can log hours through the official VicRoads myLearners app, and your instructor will sign off and verify your professional hours after each block of training.
As of July 2026, you need 120 hours in total, including 20 hours at night. We help you log these correctly so your logbook holds up when it’s checked.
Yes. If you’re testing there, at least one lesson covers that exact drive, so it isn’t the first time you’ve done it under pressure.
